What are the advantages of a career as a travel nurse?

Question: How do I become a travelling nurse?
Answer: You may apply online help recruiters understand the career
path you choose. It also helps to evaluate your skill/experience

Question: Are there minimum requirements to become an nurse traveler?
Answer: You must have a degree from an accredited healthcare program
in the U.S. or Canada. MMS requires that any of our candidates have
one year of clinical experience.
Question: If I send in an application am I obligated?
Answer: NO! Your application is only used to qualify you for a
position. The decision to travel with our partner MMS is your decision
to reach.
Question: When should I start preparing to start an travel nurse
assignment?
Answer: It’s best to start as early as possible. Sometimes MMS
recruits 2 to 3 months in advance, especially when preparing for
the census rush for states like Florida.
Question: Is there a placement fee to become a travelling nurse?
Answer: Absolutely not.
Question: What is the salary of a travelling nurse?
Answer: Pay varies from state to state and from facility to facility.
Pay in some areas might be as low as $16.00 an hour and in some
area it may be in excess of $40.00 an hour. Often hospitals will
offer sizeable completion bonuses and the entire amount is passed
directly to you the traveler.
Question: How do travel nurses get paid?
Answer: Our partner MMS will direct deposit your check to your
account or overnight your check. The payments are made every two
weeks.
Question: How long is a travel nurse assignment?
Answer: Most MMS assignments are for 13 weeks. Many times the hospital
will offer 26-week assignments. MMS gives the traveler as much flexibility
as possible.
Question: Are there many assignments available?
Answer: Yes. Thousands of assignments available all across the
U.S. Whether you want to be in a large city or a small town, our
parnter MMS has the position available that you most desire. So,
whether its Alaska, Florida, California, New York, or any of the
other 46 states, there will be an assignment for you. MMS has contracts
with America's largest hospital chains.
Question: If I decide on an assignment what exactly happens?
Answer: A copy of your application, skills checklist, references,
and credentials are submitted to the hospital you choose. MMS will
also present the start date, unit, and shift you desire. MMS will
set up a one on one phone interview between you and the hospital.
We suggest that our nurses/techs prepare questions ahead of time.
Be prepared, is the best suggestion.
Question: Will the hospital offer me the job right away?
Answer: Possibly. The hospital may offer you the job on the phone.
They may wait to discuss the assignment with us. If the hospital
really needs your services they might offer you the job immediately
and ask if you can start immediately. Each assignment is different.
Remember you are highly sought after!
Question: After the 13 weeks is over what can I do?
Answer: Most of our contracts are 13-week assignments. When your
assignment is completed you have several options. You might want
to re-new for another 13 weeks; you might want to go to another
assignment; you might want to go home. The options are yours. You
decide what is best for you.
Question: If I want the assignment what happens next?
Answer: Once your recruiter confirms your start date, shift, unit,
and pay you will receive a confirmation package in the mail. The
packet spells out everything about your new assignment.
Question: Will you help me if there is a licensing issue?
Answer: Absolutely. We will help you every step of the way.
Question: How do most people get to their new assignment?
Answer: Drive your car. You maintain the mobility to see all the
new sights. It is called" travel nursing" for a reason.
Enjoy yourself and your new life-style. MMS will pay you a generous
travel allowance (up to $600.00 round trip).
Question: I am really concerned about housing. What can I expect?
Answer: MMS has an exceptional housing department. Your deluxe
housing will be safe and comfortable in a quality neighborhood.
The apartment will be fully furnished and the utilities will be
on. In many cases we will provide you with phone and cable. Your
new home will be available to you at least 48 hours before your
start date. If your start date is on a Monday, your housing will
be available on the Friday before that. We give you plenty of time
to get moved in. MMS HOUSING IS FREE PRIVATE HOUSING. WE
DO NOT CHARGE PRIVATE APARTMENT FEES!
